About Birmitrapur

Birmitrapur town basically situated in 34.00 Sq Kms. The Birmitrapur called formerly Raipura since 1910. The king of Gangpura State Mr. Sundar Singhdeo has two sons, one named Birmitra Pratap Deo & another was Udit Pratap Deo. In 1910 Raipura becomes changed to Birmitrapur by the name of the King Birmitra Pratap Deo. Birmitrapur town was the 1st in Asia & 2nd in worlds lime stone Dolomite & Manganese open cast mines started by East India Birds Group from 1896.

Birmitrapur Municipality started functioning from 18.02.1960 as NAC vide Govt. Notification No.1190/MK-CV-7/59 IGS/dated 18.02.1960. It was subsequently converted into a Municipality vide Govt. Notification No.2401/UD dated 30.12.69. The boundary of this Municipality is indicated bellow:-
